Introduction
Ms Gordon discussed the aim and function of the pupil council

Structure of the school day:
· The general consensus was that anyone who didn’t like the new structure inthe beginning now likes the 7 periods Monday to Thursday and the 5 periods on Fridays.
· It was felt that lunch time seemed much shorter
· There was a general feeling that getting rid of registration was a good idea and that some now listen more in class now. However some found the early start difficult
· It was unanimous that the structure of the school day should not be 2-2-3
· The group were split between 3-2-2 structure and 2-3-2 structure. There were many issues with food/hunger, if people don’t have breakfast then 3 periods is a long time till break and some felt that as lunch was at 1.15, pupils were hungry period 5.
Action Points
For Ms Gordon to take back to Senior Management:
· The legality of having 1 period after lunch on a Friday could this be changed to allow closure at lunchtime?
For class representatives to take back to class:
· Vote on which structure they prefer 3-2-2 or 2-3-2 Monday- Thursday
· How to encourage pupils to eat breakfast and have a snack at break

School Uniform:
Ms Gordon disused the benefits and reasons behind having uniform
· It was felt that at the moment that reinforcement of uniform was not consistent enough, some teachers are very strict and others are not. This lead to further discussions and it was felt that uniform should either be tighten or removed. The group felt strongly that uniform should be retained but made smarter.
· Problems brought up with the current uniform clothing included the poor quality, sizes that don’t fit, the colours fade, washes badly, expensive, zips break. ¾ sleeves were not popular
· It was mentioned that teachers should have a uniform; others felt that staff should be professionally dressed.
· After reading uniform models from other schools it was agreed that no one wanted a tartan skirt
· The girls felt that it is hard to find plain black trousers unless black jeans
· 8 out of 18 representatives voted in having differentiation in uniform between S1/2, S3/4 and S5/6. The other representatives were undecided
· Some thought that since 4th years do exams they should become seniors and have
a S1-3 uniform and S4-6 uniform. Ms Gordon stated that this would suit the CfE model of general phase and senior phase
· The idea of a pin badge instead of the logo to go on clothes was raised
· 13 out of 18 representatives wanted a senior blazer and for the senior pupils to be much smarter than current
· Add grey to school colours
· A lot felt that hoodies should be removed as it encourages the boys to wear tracksuit bottoms. If it was not removed the sizing’s should be changed
· Keep the zoti sports jumpers for teams
· It was felt that the pupils need more clarity on uniform - to know what they can and can’t wear
· It was felt that there should be boy’s and girl’s sizes/fit instead of unisex
Action Points
For Ms Gordon to take back to Senior Management:
· To source suppliers that supply boys and girls fit/sizing
· Discipline on uniform– what is the procedure, ensure consistency in approach
Class representatives to take back to class:
· Vote on pin badge
· Add grey to school colours?
· Having 3 styles of uniform for S1/2, S3/4 and S5/6 or having 2 styles S1-3 and S4-6
· Smartness of senior pupil uniform- blazer, shirt and tie but what about the other years?
· What clothing should be unacceptable
· What style of footwear is appropriate

Diaries
This was only touched on as time ran out but the general consensus was that the diaries were too big, only used for timetables and that not many people use them. However 1st and 2nd years are most likely to get use out of them thus they are a good idea.
