Today's photographs show the extent of the foundations (below) and the Rector Mr MacKenzie finalising the position of his new desk!

 

 

 


Thursday 8th June 2006

The major excavations in the foreground are to redirect a main drain. In the background the remains of the old PE shed demolished to make way for the new bus terminal.

 

 

 


Wednesday 28th June 2006

The panorama photograph below shows the steady progress of the contractors delivering many tons of hardcore creating a the foundations for pedestrian traffic before pile driving onto the bedrock below to support the main structure.


The picture below shows another load being delivered to be levelled onto the white membrane below.

Tuesday 25th July 2006

Pile driving was originally scheduled to start on 8th August but to avoid any disruptions to lessons in the new session the contractors brought the schedule forward and started at the beginning of the holidays.

The photograph on the right shows the first steel pile being driven in.

The New Academy will be supported by around 700 steel and concrete piles each resting on the bedrock below. The contractors aim to have all 700 piles in place before the new session starts.

Some of the concrete piles in situ are shown below.
