Dear Parent/Carer

School will end for the Easter holiday at the usual time on Thursday March 20th and re-open at the normal time on Tuesday 8th April 2008. For those pupils who travel by either Stagecoach or Scotbus to school, it had initially been our intention to reinstate the pick up and drop off points at the sport centre car park when the works had been completed there. We have now reassessed this and plan to continue with the arrangements as they are at present until the move to the new school. The present arrangements seem to be working very well and therefore we will continue with that until the 9th June.

The construction process in the new school continues to be on time and we hope to be able to take possession of the school on the 12th May. It will be necessary to have a period of time for the removal and for the installation for the ICT equipment in the new building. It would also not be appropriate to move the pupils during the SQA examination period. In our August newsletter I had outlined to you potential arrangements for the transfer from one school to the other and I now outline what I hope will be the definitive arrangements. From Monday 2nd June until Thursday 5th June inclusive all pupils are excused attendance. On Friday 6th June all pupils will take part in an induction process to be held in the new school. Arrangements and timings for this will be communicated to you at a later date. On Monday 9th June it is intended that all pupils will report to the old Academy and at some stage of the morning a parade will take place with the whole school moving from one site to the other. It is hoped that this will be a colourful and exciting spectacle and I will keep you informed as to the arrangements for that day. From that time all classes will take place in the new Academy. I should also remind you that we plan to make it possible for all interested members of the community to have a tour of the old school and a first visit to the new school at times to be notified. As you can imagine it is a very exciting time for us all here in the Academy and we look forward to the transition working smoothly in May and June this year.

In January of this year our ICT technician left to take up another new post. I hope that we will be able to appoint a new technician in the very near future, but in the meantime the website has not been maintained as well as I would have hoped. I hope that our website will be back up and running immediately after the Easter break.

I trust that you all have an enjoyable and relaxing Easter Holiday but would remind our senior students that their examinations are not far in the future and they should keep up their study routines.

Yours sincerely

Graham A. MacKenzie
Rector
